I don’t know what it is, but each day I spent in Bangalore, I kept getting more and more tired. Just increasingly unable to deal with the stresses of being in the city, and the motivation to get out and get things done just evaporated. Finally, yesterday we headed back to Penukonda — and even though there is a TON of work to be done and things to take care of, it was with a huge sign of relief that we dropped our bags, plopped down, and let the bees buzzing in our brains slowly dissipate.
The sense of decompression was literally palpable for me. As always, it’s crazy-noisy here — this week, the carpenters are working on our neighbor’s kitchen, but doing much of the cutting and prep work right out front of our place anyway, yet it didn’t matter. Seva work waiting for me, urgent to get done — but that was okay. Classes…well, there were some while we were gone, but these ended coincidentally enough just after we arrived (I’m sure that’ll change again soon…nothing here stays in one state for long).
So today, I started the work the painters never came to do for us, namely the cabinets, starting with using filler putty in all the cracks and holes (enough to use up nearly 1kg of filler…but I was also a tad sloppy). Tomorrow will be primer day, for all the bare wood. Next day, two coats of latex glossy on all the cabinet innards and undersides.
Good to be home…
